What can the birthmark removal procedure do for me?

Birthmarks are a discolouration of the skin caused by a high density of melanin, the pigmentation that gives skin its colour, or a high concentration of blood vessels. Although they are natural and common as more than 10 in 100 babies have birthmarks, they may be considered cosmetically undesirable or cause personal discomfort, in which case there are ways to safely and effective treat the afflicted area. Common types of birthmarks include cafe-au-lait spots, mongolian spots, salmon patches, hemangiomas, and port wine stains.

How does the birthmark removal procedure work?

The 1540 non-ablative fractional laser uses high-precision microbeams to penetrate the skin, heat and remodel the collagen stores to regenerate fresh skin and improve the appearance of the discolouration. Electrocautery removal techniques are utilized if the birthmark is raised to replace the blemish with a less noticeable linear scar. For flat birthmarks, the solution is a procedure using advanced laser techniques with the 1540 and Yag 1064 lasers to gradually break down and fade the discolouration.
